World Intellectual Property Day 2024 Is May 1st – Want to Celebrate at the U.S. Capitol Building?

by | Apr 22, 2024 | Events, Intellectual Property

As an attorney who works in IP law, it probably comes as no surprise that I have a particular appreciation for intellectual property and the protections we have devised for those who create it.  The legal protections our country – and the world – have developed around intellectual property is something that is enormously important in promoting creativity and innovation, by helping to ensure individuals and businesses receive proper protections and compensation for their creations.

If you have a similar interest in intellectual property, I highly recommend attending the USPTO’s World Intellectual Property Day event. There will be a discussion about the role IP plays in supporting the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Just a few of these goals include issues such as general equality, creating clean and affordable energy, and taking action on the climate crisis. Kathi Vidal, Director of the USPTO and Representative Darrell Issa of California’s Forty Eighth Congressional District, will both be speaking.

The event will take place Wednesday, May 1, at 4 p.m. ET at the U.S. Capitol Building. Unable to attend in person? No worries – you can join in the festivities online! Learn more about the event and register to attend at the USPTO World IP Day 2024 event page.
