William M. Corley, an attorney at Marks Gray, P.A. has been elected as an Associate member to the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Founded in the late 1950’s, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), was started by a small group of young lawyers whose main goal was to preserve the civil jury trial, “Justice by the People”.  The purpose of this Association is to foster improvement in the ethical and technical standards in the area of trial advocacy so that litigants may receive a more effective representation and the general public be benefited by more efficient administration of justice.

There are a multitude of strict requirements listed by ABOTA to become an Associate member. Among them are being nominated by a current ABOTA member, having tried at least twenty (20) civil jury trials to a jury verdict as lead counsel, and acquiring enough points from the Association’s trial equivalency provisions. Mr. Corley has met all the requirements of the Association and has been granted an Associate position.

Mr. Corley joined Marks Gray in 1982, focusing his practice on the areas of civil litigation specializing in drugs and medical devices, mass tort litigation, products liability, medical malpractice and automobile personal injury.
