Marks Gray Shareholder, Edward L. Birk was elected Treasurer of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA) during the Association’s annual meeting this month. A member of ADTA since 2003, Mr. Birk has held a variety of positions within the organization, most recently as a member of the Executive Council since 2010.
The Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA) is comprised of some of the finest trial attorneys in the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, and England. Founded as the Association of Insurance Attorneys (AIA) in 1941, the ADTA has established itself as one of the major defense trial attorney organizations in the legal profession. The Association counts among its present and past members lawyers who have served as President of the American Bar Association, presidents of state bar associations, and leaders of many national, state and local defense associations. Many of its members have moved from private practice to serve in the judiciary. The ADTA proudly champions the civil jury trial system as being essential to our American system of jurisprudence and individual liberties.
Ed Birk shared, “I am honored to have the chance to continue serving this fine organization.” Mr. Birk’s involvement in the ADTA continues a long tradition of Marks Gray service to the ADTA. Four Marks Gray attorneys have served as president of the ADTA—Harry Gray (1960‐61); James C. Rinaman Jr. (1976‐77); H.Frank Perritt (1988‐89), and Gerald W. Weedon (2003‐04).
