Marlana J. Johnson of Jacksonville has joined Marks Gray as an associate attorney. Johnson focuses her practice on medical malpractice defense and other civil litigation claims.
Johnson joined Marks Gray in August after practicing at two other firms in Northeast Florida for the past five years. In addition to medical malpractice cases, Johnson has litigation experience related to construction, professional liability, retail, and transportation disputes.
“Marks Gray is honored to welcome Marlana to our growing team,” said Fred H. Kent, III, president of Marks Gray. “Ms. Johnson adds to our medical malpractice defense team and solidifies our commitment to defending our clients in these matters as well as other civil lawsuits.”
Marlana earned her law degree at the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2017 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at Drake University. While in law school at the University of Florida, she was a Dean’s List scholar and received a Book Award in Trial Practice. She also served as co-president of the Employment and Labor Law Society and was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution competition team.
“I joined Marks Gray because of its reputation and history in Jacksonville along with the incredible firm culture it has built,” said Johnson. “As a young attorney, I am focused on developing and sharpening my skills and being involved in the Jacksonville business and legal community while I expand my practice at the firm.”
Marlana is a member of the Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar Association.
Johnson’s addition to the team strengthens Marks Gray’s position in the market. Marks Gray specializes in the legal issues facing businesses of all sizes and includes comprehensive legal defense services to a wide range of industries. Marks Gray has grown to 25 attorneys and a total of 60 employees.
