Dot your I(-9)’s

by | Dec 9, 2011 | Immigration Team News

A small electronics company in California, Alyn Industries, Inc., with only 60 employees was fined $43,000 for substantive violations including a failure to complete a few I-9s, sign some I-9 attestations, and failure of employeeS to check the box indicating her immigration status.   Mitigating factors included that Alyn had no prior violations and was found not to be acting in bad faith.   Every current and recently released employee’s I-9 is vulnerable for audits and fines, so make sure you cross your t’s and dot your i(-9)’s to ensure that your company does not find itself in this costly situation.
