Representative and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith introduced the Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 2164) last week, which would make E-Verify mandatory for most employers. The bill would also eliminate paper I-9s, making worker eligibility authorization entirely electronic.
