EAD automatic extensions from 180 days to 540 days

Here are the highlights

Good news for some in our immigration community!

Long processing times for Employment Authorization Document (EAD) renewals have been a headache, resulting in work disruption and individuals losing work authorization before receiving their new cards. Some relief has arrived! USCIS has extended the automatic period for some EAD renewals from 180 days to 540 days.

New Option for Notifying USCIS of a Change of Address

Foreign nationals in the United States must notify USCIS of an address change within 10 days after moving to your new address. This process can be cumbersome.

However, there is a new option for Notifying USCIS of a Change of Address. The Enterprise Change of Address (E-COA) is a new USCIS tool for foreign nationals to report a change of address.

E-COA is expected to streamline the process by automating address changes for most pending applications, petitions, or requests in one location.

Before the introduction of E-COA, changing your address with USCIS involved many steps. This process is expected to eliminate the need to update the address in multiple places; fill out a paper AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card; call the Contact Center; or visit a USCIS Field or Asylum Office.
