Why You (Or Someone You Know) Should Participate in INTA’s Open Invitation Challenge

by | Mar 3, 2025 | Intellectual Property, Trademark

If you are in the IP world or have been following this blog for any length of time, you have probably heard me talk about INTA, the International Trademark Association. I typically attend their annual meeting, and like to write about my experiences and what I learn each year.

This year, though, that annual meeting is going to be a bit different, because they have decided to include their fantastic Open Invitation Challenge (OIC) amongst the festivities. Even better – there is still time to be a part of this contest.

What is the OIC, and why should you care?

Small to Medium-sized Businesses: Learn If Your Stuff Is Up to Snuff

Essentially, the OIC is an event where early to mid-sized start-ups and scale-ups can, as their press copy says:

“Pitch and promote their business idea, technology innovation, or research application to distinguished judges, including experts in branding, brand valuation, business advisory services, intellectual property law, marketing, Environmental Social and Governance (ESG), and finance with experiences.

Gain invaluable insights from the judging panels and peers.

Network with other start-ups, scale-ups, and entrepreneurs.”

In other words, you get to see what the experts think about the Big New Thing you are working on while meeting and mingling with people just like you. Finalists are allowed to compete virtually, but if you decide to do so in person, you will receive complimentary registrations to the Annual Meeting.

Learn more about the contest here and apply by heading here. But do not wait – the deadline to apply is March 14!

Too Soon, Or Just Don’t Have Anything Ready to Compete in the OIC?

Feel free to share the above information with others so they can join in on the fun of the Open Invitation Challenge if they want. And even if you are unable to participate in the competition, I highly encourage you to come to the annual meeting in San Diego this May. Making connections with the INTA community is a wonderful way to help your business grow and thrive.

Maybe we will even see each other there. Of course, you can always see me sooner – just schedule a consultation!
