Meet the New Folks

Since 2015, attorney Mitchell Ghaneie and patent agents Christopher Roberts and Claire Patton built a successful intellectual property-focused law practice in Northeast Florida. As of February 2022, they will join attorney Logan McEwen and myself, along with paralegals and staff who have comprised Marks Gray’s intellectual property team for the last decade.

Patent Attorney: Mitch Ghaneie

Registered Patent Attorney Mitchell “Mitch” Ghaneie helps businesses, startups, independent inventors, nonprofit organizations, and entrepreneurs protect their intellectual property. Mitch earned a degree in biological sciences at Florida State University, then earned his law degree at Florida State University College of Law.

For more than six years, Mitch has prosecuted hundreds of patent and trademark applications. He also represents clients in intellectual property disputes. In addition he provides the following client services:

  • Drafting licensing agreements
  • Corporate formation and compliance
  • Other contractual agreements

“Our team has worked diligently to support the needs of entrepreneurs and small businesses across the  country,” said Ghaneie. “Joining Marks Gray gives us more resources and strength to help businesses launch and protect their intellectual property.”

Patent Agent: Christopher Roberts

Christopher Roberts is a registered patent agent who brings years of engineering experience to his practice. After completing graduate studies at Georgia Tech, he spent more than five years practicing as a structural engineer.

Chris assists clients in fully capturing and protecting their ideas. Chris works closely with Mitch  throughout the patent prosecution process and understands technical intricacies and respective client technologies.

Patent Agent: Claire Patton

Claire Patton has been a registered patent agent since 2006. She assists in preparation, filing, and prosecution of U.S. and PCT patent applications for small and medium-sized businesses. She has experience working with foreign associates regarding foreign patent prosecution.

Claire earned a degree in engineering at The Ohio State University. She has over 12 years of experience working for consulting engineering companies that design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial buildings.

A Bright Horizon

Our new team will enable us to help companies and individuals navigate the patent, copyright, and trademark process from start to finish. This also opens the door to perform other important legal services, such as freedom-to-operate analyses and patent landscape studies.

“We are proud to welcome the former Ghaneie Law team to the Marks Gray family,” said Frederick H. Kent, III, Marks Gray president and shareholder. “Jacksonville’s rapid growth and numerous rankings as a top market for startups and business expansions has created a strong need for full-service intellectual property services – crucial to startups, small businesses, and large entities.”
